Pedro Gomes

Born in 1972, in Mozambique. He lives and works in Lisbon. MFA from Chelsea College of Art (London) and Advanced Course at Ar.Co – Center for Art and Visual Communication (Lisbon). Scholarship from the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation (Lisbon).

In 2020, he held an anthological exhibition entitled Encontro às Cegas at MNAC – National Museum of Contemporary Art in Lisbon. Of the individual exhibitions he held, the most recent stand out: A óptica do utilizador, Appleton Square, Lisboa (2019); Um Quarenta, Galeria Diferença, Lisboa (2018); Urbe, Fundação Arpad Szénes-Vieira da Silva, Lisboa (2018); 16 de Setembro, Galeria Presença, Porto (2017); A Torre, Galeria Miguel Nabinho, Lisboa (2016); e Inscape, at Galeria Presença, Porto (2016). Among the collective exhibitions in which he participated, the following stand out: O Desenho Incerto – Cinco leituras do espaço, Colégio das Artes, Coimbra (2020); Germinal. O núcleo Cabrita Reis na Coleção de Arte da Fundação EDP, MAAT, Lisboa (2018); Quatro Elementos, Galeria Municipal do Porto, Porto (2017); Uma coleção = um Museu, MACE – Museu de Arte Contemporânea de Elvas, Elvas (2017); e As Casas na Coleção do CAM, Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian, Lisboa (2016).

He is represented in several public and private collections, in Portugal and abroad, such as the Calouste Gulbenkian Museum – Modern Collection, Lisbon; António Cachola Collection, MACE – Museum of Contemporary Art of Elvas; EDP Foundation Art Collection, Lisbon; MUDAS – Museum of Contemporary Art of Madeira; PLMJ Foundation, Lisbon; Leal Rios Foundation, Lisbon; State Art Collection, Portugal; among others.
