*Scholarship winner under the program " “Residências Artísticas: a água como fonte de comunidade” promoted and organized by RAMA – Maceira e Alfeiria Art Residencies, with the support of Torres Vedras' City Council.*
Catarina Gentil (1998, Portugal) studied Fine Arts, specialized in sculpture, at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Porto and was recently an intern at the Peggy Guggenheim Museum of Modern Art in Venice (2021).
Although her work is mostly developed in sculpture, Catarina shows a varied artistic practice, including painting, photography and textiles. Her themes involve issues such as memory (collective and individual), territory, the domestic and the traditional, focusing on a poetic treatment of reality and a sensitive and emotional approach to the themes. Her aesthetic is based on a delicate language that involves the use of natural materials and domestic objects.
She currently lives and works in Mafra where she continues her artistic practice, working on new projects, exhibitions and art residencies.
