Rita Gaspar Vieira
(Leiria, 1976)
Lives and works between Leiria and Lisbon.
She holds a PhD in Fine Arts – Drawing and a Masters in Art Theories at FBAUL (Lisbon), where she also graduated in Fine Arts – Painting. Adjunct Professor at I.P.T. (Tomar) and at Colégio das Artes – Univ.Coimbra (Doctorate of Art span> Contemporary), she is an integrated member of the investigation center Techn&Art – I.P.T. e Contributing member at CEIS20/U.C., U.C.
Visual artist, Rita GV works in the field of drawing and three-dimensionality and her work has been questioning relationships between private and collective memory of inhabited places, highlighting relationships between everyday practices and procedures artistic that these practices constitute in her work, when considering the difference creative achieved in view of the expectations with which the actions are performed. In the set of these practices, the use of water is crucial, namely in the production of handcrafted cotton paper that, in his work, constitutes the genesis of the design and of the installations.
