Vasco Barata

Lisboa,1974

Vasco Barata, graduated in Painting (FBAUL), with studies in Photography and a post-graduate degree in Drawing (FBAUL). Visual Arts Course - Gulbenkian Creativity and Artistic Creation Programme (Gulbenkian/ Ar.Co).
Represented in several institutional and private collections.
Since the late 1990s, Vasco Barata has been exhibiting his work in various forms, alternating above all between a research in the field of the construction and perception of the image (through the use of photography and video) and an attempt to understand the mechanisms of expression allied to the practice of drawing.
His works articulate a particular interest in cinema and cinematographic strategies, in the codes of language and in a wide range of popular culture references.
